The adsorption and corrosion inhibition of gemini surfactant (\[C12-4-C12im\]Br2) on zinc surface in 1mol/L HCl was investigated using weight loss method and electrochemical methods. The inhibition mechanism was discussed through analysis of the adsorption thermodynamics and corrosion kinetics. The results showed that \[C12-4-C12im\]Br2 was a good inhibitor for zinc in 1 mol/L HCl, and the inhibition efficiency increased with increasing inhibitor concentration, while decreased with the increase in temperature of acid medium and \[C12-4-C12im\]Br2 acted as a mixed-type inhibitor. The adsorption mechanism of the gemini surfactant on zinc surface was found to be fitted with Langmuir adsorption model.
